Lock Poker Review
The success story behind Lock Poker is pretty amazing. They first opened in 2008 as a skin on the Merge Gaming Network. After reading this Lock Poker review you will come to realize that this US poker site was never a skin in anything but name. They invested millions of dollars in unique promotions while also signing up some of the most respected professional poker players. Most “skins” simply use the generic network bonuses and promotions, but Lock Poker wanted to give players a reason to chose them over the established rooms on the Merge Network and they very were successful in doing so. This network greatly regrets Lock Poker’s success even if they didn’t mind the growing traffic and profits at the time. By 2012 Lock Poker had grown so popular that they bought the troubled Cake Poker Network, left Merge and created the Revolution Gaming Network. Lock Poker didn’t leave alone though. Around 40% of the traffic at Merge left with them. Since then Lock Poker has been the largest U.S. poker site.
Please Note - Lock Poker does not accept players from New York, Maryland, and Utah.

Lock Poker Deposit Bonus
New players at Lock Poker will enjoy a 200% match bonus up to $4,000. This is one of the largest poker bonuses that I have ever seen. Lock Poker issues the bonus in $5 increments for each 84 VIP Points you earn at the cash tables. Every $1 in rake you contribute is worth one VIP Point and every $1 in sitngo or tournament fees is worth 7 points. Usually massive bonuses come with ridiculous clearance requirements but that is not the case at Lock Poker.

Example - If you deposit $200 at Lock Poker, they will give you an additional $400 in bonus dollars!
Lock Poker Software
Lock Poker is using a customized version of the Cake Poker Network software. There have been many innovations since they started using it. Lock Poker has refined this platform to make it more multi-player friendly, better looking and faster. Even with all of the improvements I personally do not consider it to be exceptional. The online backend is much more impressive. Your main account page, the cashier and the casino are loaded on your web browser.
The name “Lock Poker” comes from an innovation that is only available at this poker site. You can transfer money that you are not using to your own personal vault. Much more than a password protects your vault. Here is an overview of the special features at Lock Poker including information about the vault and other web-based features:
Platform:
Customize – Lock Poker allows you to customize the table color, floor color, felt color and the face/ back of the cards.
Table sizes – You can change the size of the tables at Lock Poker several different ways. You can simply click on the edge and move it to the preferred size. If you want to play at two or more tables simultaneously you can choose between Cascade, Tile and the “4 Corners” setting. The graphic quality does not decrease when you reduce the size of the table.
Visual / Animation settings – You can change the quality of graphics used by the software. Lowering the quality will speed up the software, but if you have a fast Internet connection you can increase the quality without any change in speed. You can also tweak the speed by turning off some of the animations and visuals.
Audio – There are 11 different sounds that you can turn on and off at Lock Poker. This includes things like the fold, check and bet sounds.
Other settings – Custom buy-in, auto re-buy, preferred seating, Turn on/off table talk, customize avatar and virtually unlimited hand histories saved to your computer.
Web-based Features:
Vault – At Lock Poker you can transfer money between the poker room, casino and your vault. The vault uses triple layered security that cannot be beat anywhere. First you must obviously know your username and password to log into the software. If a hacker got that far they would also have to know your four digit vault security pin and the answer to your secret question. Both of these are necessary every time you log into your vault.
Lock Casino – Lock Poker offers a full web-based casino that features 15 table games, 13 video poker games, 25 slot machines and Keno. The Lock Casino has four progressive jackpots that can range from $25,000 to over $100,000.
Points for cash – You can redeem your Lock Poker VIP points for cash.
P2P transfers – Send money to your friends.
The Lock Poker software currently only offers Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha HL.
Competition At Lock Poker
Lock Poker has decent games running around the clock for several reasons. Many popular sports books are part of the Revolution Gaming Network. When sports bettors play poker online they generally do poorly since most have limited experience. The players that left Merge to continue playing at Lock Poker are also widely known as weak players. Another reason for the soft competition at Lock Poker is the number of inexperienced players who sign up there. Many Americans who are new to online poker prefer to play at the largest poker room and Lock Poker is the largest so they draw in the most fish.
Banking At Lock Poker
Lock Poker has some solid U.S. friendly deposit and withdrawal options. The selection for ROW (Rest of World) players is much more comprehensive. Generally speaking, non-U.S. poker players will not have any difficulty depositing and cashing out at Lock Poker so I have only listed the U.S. options below.
Deposit Options:
Visa / American Express – You can use both of these cards to deposit at Lock Poker. The most common method for U.S. players is Visa debit, credit or pre-paid cards. Min: $30, Max: $500.
Western Union – This method can be completed online or in person at any participating store. The minimum deposit for Western Union transfers is $100 and the maximum is $2,000. You can use this method once per week. Western Union charges a 9% fee to use their service.
Payout Options:
Check - Check withdrawals at Lock Poker fluctuate between 4 and 8 weeks. There is a $25 fee, but they will refund this fee on your first withdrawal each month.
Western Union – WU payouts at Lock Poker are the preferred method for U.S. players. These can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks. There is a 10% fee charged by Lock Poker, but like the checks this will be refunded back to your account once per month.
