A Visa credit or debit card is a standard option for banking. And given that it's a widely accepted option at most, if not all US poker sites, this is a payment method I recommend US poker players try first. That said, because of the UIGEA it can be hit or miss as to whether or not your deposit is approved. There are many benefits to using a Visa. For one thing, a Visa can be a credit, debit or prepaid card. So you can get a card from just about anywhere; your bank, credit union or even a grocery store.
Visas tend to have higher limits, too. And you'll find that if your deposit is approved, the money hits your poker account fast. Usually within minutes.
I'm clearly a big fan of Visa as a depositing method. I suggest you check it out if you haven't already. The following are some details on getting started.
Making a deposit with your Visa is straightforward. All that you need to do is visit the cashier, choose Visa, enter in your card number, expiration date and cvv2 code, enter the amount you want to deposit and hit submit. Approval/denials take minutes, and if approved, your money will be available instantly.
In the situation your card is declined, I recommend trying it again or contacting support for help. Sometimes they have better luck. Of course you can always try another option like an e-wallet or money transfer service like Western Union.
The one downside to using Visa is that it's a deposit only option. Poker sites won't process withdrawals to Visa.
However, what you can do is make a withdrawal to your e-wallet account. Many of these services offer credit/debit cards. So you can transfer your money to that account and then have access to the money with your card. It's the same idea.
With the exception of maybe a handful of poker sites, using your Visa to make a deposit is free. The majority of poker sites will handle the fee, if there is one. However, I do recommend doing your research to avoid sites that charge fees. You should also make sure that your bank won't charge a fee either, especially since the poker site(s) wont' cover those costs.
You shouldn't have that hard of a time finding a site that accepts both Visa as payment and US players. In fact, since most poker sites accept Visa, I would spend more time trying to find a legit US poker site.
